Alex Rea is the vice president of Homegrown Hydroponics Inc. and has over 10 years of experience working in the hydroponic industry. He is also a co-founder of Phytomedical, a cannabis consulting company which assists people in need to access legal cannabis or to legally grow their own.

Alex has a strong background in hydroponic gardening and consults cannabis growers on design and set up of hydroponic gardens, troubleshoot pest problems and fine tune nutrient needs. He is on the frontlines of cannabis growing and has a sharp eye for new technologies. Amongst growers, he is known to have an unique perspective on effective cannabis growing methods.

For the past few years, Alex has taught cannabis growing courses providing an in-depth and thorough approach. He has helped many students decide on the right growing methods depending on their setup.

“On November 10th, 2017, the Department of Finance announced a proposal to apply excise tax to both non-medical and medical cannabis. With a lack of insurance coverage and GST/HST already applied to medical cannabis, this proposal will lead to further affordability challenges for patients using cannabis for medical purposes. Medical cannabis must be treated as other prescribed medicines and accordingly be exempt from ALL taxes.”
